Lillet Grapefruit Cocktail
Lillet is a brand of French aperitif wine that is made from assorted fruits and peels. I wanted to put together an easy cocktail that would be refreshing during the summer months. It is very easy to make and goes well with fish, salad, or even pizza. Just make sure all of your ingredients are cold before mixing. You could even put the glasses in the fridge before pouring the cocktail in.
Ingredients
Lillet Blanc, 1/4 cup
Fresh Grapefruit Juice, 1/4 cup
Sugar, 1/3 cup
Water, 1/3 cup
Sparkling Water
Ice
Dried Edible Jasmine Flowers (optional)
*This recipe yields one 8oz cocktail. Feel free to multiply the recipe for as many as you would like to serve.
To make the sugar syrup, put the water and sugar in a sauce pan and cook over medium/high heat for 5-8 minutes. You don’t want your simple syrup too thick, so don’t overcook it. Make sure the syrup has cooled before making your drinks.
In a cocktail shaker mix 1 tablespoon of the simple syrup, 1/4 cup of Lillet Blanc, and 1/4 cup of grapefruit juice (can be freshly squeezed or store-bought). Add some ice cubes and shake vigorously for a minute. Strain into glass and top with cold sparkling water. Can add crushed ice if desired and also jasmine flowers or grapefruit slices for garnish.
